Excerpts from the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce SPOTLIGHT.

The Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce, NACC held it’s SPOTLIGHT Event, a dedicated platform that provides SMEs an opportunity to gain transformational knowledge from a leading best practice/role model institution.

Themed: ‘Technology as an enabler for SME Growth, Sustainability and Success’, the Event was held on Tuesday, the 31st of October 2023, at Four Points by Sheraton, Lagos – Nigeria.

The Event featured presentations from an expert faculty of very senior facilitators who have both theoretical and experiential knowledge as active operators in the Technology and SME Ecosystem.

In a welcome remark delivered by the President, 

Dame Adebola Williams, she stated that:

‘Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, and Egypt are currently the central focus of Africa’s Tech ecosystem.

These four nations, referred to as the “big four” markets, have received about 73% of the financing in Africa.

Nigeria has a fast-growing tech sector mainly driven by financial services and telecommunication, home to over 400 tech start-ups and ranked 61st out of 100 countries worldwide in the start-up ecosystem index.

Not only have various technology platforms played critical roles in helping small business owners in the U.S. and Nigeria survive recent economic turbulence, but those small businesses that fully embrace technology are outcompeting their peers’, She concluded.

  2. Senior Sales Manager, Rack Centre  Abiodun Sanni.
  3. Country Manager LM Ericsson Nigeria Limited – Peter Olusoji Ogundele.
  4. Head SME Digital Products,Sterling Bank – Bolanle Tyson.

It was affirmed at this meeting that Several factors can hinder the adoption of digital solutions and emerging technologies by MSMEs.

Notwithstanding, SMEs can take advantage of opportunities provided by digital infrastructure to become more efficient, improve productivity, compete, become profitable, and sustainable.

We continue to dialogue and seek ways of exploring

socio-economic opportunities through Advocacy, Partnerships, and Networking for the prosperity of the United States and Nigeria.
